Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enter?

Anyone can enter. Professional media are welcome but equally, so are part-timers and amateurs. It’s all about the story of your content. If you have created Gold Coast-specific digital content (traditional, social, video, images, graphics) then we encourage you to enter.  Note, that if Destination Gold Coast (or previously named Gold Coast Tourism Corporation) paid you (or your organisation/entity) for specific content (story, image, social, video, text, etc) then this paid content cannot enter any award category in the Destination Gold Coast Content Awards. Content that DGC (or GCTC) had no commercial arrangement around can be entered.

Can I enter more than once?

Yes, you can enter as many categories as you like.  But only one entry per category.

Is there a date range for the created content?

We are accepting entries based on content created from 1 October 2017 to 30 August 2018.

Can I enter Gold Coast Tourism or Destination Gold Coast paid/commissioned content?

No. If Destination Gold Coast (or previously named Gold Coast Tourism Corporation) paid you (or your organisation/entity) for specific content (story, image, social, video, text, etc) then this paid content cannot enter any award category in the Destination Gold Coast Content Awards under your name/organisation or anyone else’s.

What is the deadline for entries?

Entries close midnight on Sunday 30 September, 2018

Can I submit a video?

Yes, be wary of the length.  If your video has varied themes, only submit the relevant Gold Coast content not the whole piece of amazing work.

Do I keep all rights to my images when I enter?

Yes. Destination Gold Coast (DGC) does not retain any rights to your submitted content when you enter these awards. The only condition in this regard is that by entering you do grant permission for use of your entry content on this website, and for reasonable promotion of the Destination Gold Coast Content Awards.  Credit will definitely be given.  Destination Gold Coast’s Content team will contact you directly if they would like to feature your submitted content via any other DGC owned channel. We totally respect your intellectual property and commercial rights. Bear in mind, DGC (and a bunch of other agencies probably) will always have the rights that currently exist to repost, repurpose or refer to your content within or from the platforms where it currently exists or exists in the future. These Awards don’t change that. What we want to be up front about is that we love sharing your stuff wherever and whenever that is appropriate, but we aren’t going to hoard these award entries and use them later as promotional content like they were our own library!

What file size can I submit?

Any file size, PDF and JPG files would be great.

Do I submit hi-res files?

If you have hi-res, please submit.  If you don’t please submit the best version available.

Can I edit my submission before I submit it?

Yes, the site will guide you in the process and will show you your entries. You can save your entry at any time and come back later.  You will be able to remove and add content or more images for example. Once you submit your final entry you can still edit your submission.  Note – Once entries close (midnight 30 September 2018), it will no longer be possible to edit, remove or exchange your entry.

Can I change an image or my entry after I have completed the final submission?

Yes, once you have submitted, it can be changed.  While building your entry, you will be able to save you progress and come back to your entry later.  Once you have submitted, changes to your entry can be made.  Once entries close (midnight 30 September 2018), you will not be able to change any part of your submission.

Can I log back in and submit more work once I have entered a category?

Yes, but you will not be able to change any part of your submission after midnight 30 September 2018.

Will I receive a notice that my online submission has been received?

Yes, once you’ve completed your submission, you will automatically receive an email confirmation.

What if I can't register or submit my content online?

Please check that you do not have a firewall installed that is preventing access. You may also try to submit using a different computer from work or home. Contact awards@destinationgoldcoast.com with any other technical problems.

How can I find out the results of the competition?
